About Us

Our History

Access Dental Care was established in 2000 as a non-profit organization to support the special care population in North Carolina. Our business is a model of Apple Tree Dental, a Minnesota non-profit, serving similar patient communities.  The North Carolina Dental Society recognized that the State needed a model program to provide quality special care services and that community dentists needed a referral source for their ever-changing practice population.  Their foresight has resulted in North Carolina being a national leader in special care dentistry.

After transferring his private practice serving nursing home facilities in Asheboro and Greensboro, Dr. Bill Milner along with Betsy White, cofounded the newly formed, non-profit, in 2000. The program has earned the support of numerous North Carolina foundations and special care interest organizations. Grants from the Cone Foundation, the North Carolina Dental Society and Piedmont Triad Area Agency on Aging helped launch the organization that has never stopped opening dentistry’s doors to the medically, intellectually and physically disabled.

While carefully expanding our programming efforts, we knew that loading and unloading a complete dental office five days a week requires special equipment. To that end, we started manufacturing much of our own equipment to satisfy these needs and continue to build our expertise, today.

Access Dental Solutions

Over the past many years, as Access Dental Care has provided high-quality dental care throughout the state of North Carolina, we’re constantly asked by organizations to help them establish their own mobile dentistry practice.

While we were happy to assist in any way we could, it became obvious that the need and interest extended well-beyond North Carolina and was growing with each passing year. In order to address this need and interest, in early 2023, Access Dental Care created a separate division within our organization, Access Dental Solutions (ADS).

Access Dental Solutions is managed within the Access Dental Care organization, and has two major initiatives:

  • To provide consulting services to those individuals and/or organizations interested in establishing their own mobile dentistry.

  • To provide a turnkey mobile dentistry delivery system consisting of a fully-upfitted new vehicle (box truck) along with all the operatories of dental equipment mobilized for easy transport.
